Got the day off to celebrate the inauguration.
It all started at 8am at Joe's Inn (with a brief 1.5 hour stay at Matt's for more mimosa's and to watch the swearing in) and the day lasted until 3:30. I did have the obamalette which consisted of mozzarella and arugula. Add some siracha sauce to that and it was a hit! We all took pictures with the life sized Obama cardboard figure. We took some shots and said good riddance to W.
I had so much fun celebrating with people from all ages and backgrounds. The bartenders and servers were so awesome there. They completely hooked it up and we all had a great day of cheering, chatting, and day drinking.
My favorite part of his speech:
"For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate. "
Rev. Joseph Lowery also killed it:
"we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around -- when yellow will be mellow -- when the red man can get ahead, man -- and when white will embrace what is right."
