The one thing I like about foreign films is the cultural differences a viewer can take from the people, places, languages, etc. I don't even know when I started really liking foreign films...maybe after watching movies such as Ponette (1997) and Cinema Paradiso (1988). A lot of foreign films I have rented are usually quirky and basically very unlike any American movie. This movie Fat Girl was probably one of the most disturbing films I have ever seen. I would recommend it only because of the shock value the end of the movie gives you. French films, Spanish films, Russian, etc. all have different styles and themes when it comes to the plots and characters of the movies. However, I find that a lot of them are similar because they are so unlike the movies produced here in the States. So let me know some of your favorites next time I talk to you...
