The Asshole

I have had many discussions with my girlfriends about why we like guys who are "assholes". We are attractive, smart, and out-going girls who end up dating guys who treat us like crap. We know the dude is being an asshole, or is one, but that doesn't stop us from dating this type of guy. Why can't the "nice" guy be good enough for us? I don't think it means we are settling if we do date a guy who treats us properly. However, I think it is the fact that we do like the challenge of thinking we can change the asshole into a nice guy....if this was to ever happen (which I have not seen one case where it has) would this mean we would get bored of the converted asshole or stick with him?
